CAIRO – 20 September 2017: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the Team of the Week from the Champions League quarter-final first leg games.
Al Ahly`s right back Ahmed Fathi was the only Egyptian to feature on this team.
Al Ahly faced off against Esperance Sportive last week at Borg Al Arab Stadium in the first leg match of the CAF Champions League’s quarter-final, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Mamelodi Sundowns had the most players on this team. There are three players that made their way through this round after they earned a valuable 1-0 win over Wydad Casablanca on Sunday.
The record eight-time African champions, who last won the competition in 2013, will need to achieve victory or at least a 3-3 draw when they travel for the second-leg in Rades next week. They are trying to secure their spot in the semi-final.
